Here we go!
Well, here it goes! My first post in the wonderful world of blogging. I have been inspired by all the fitness and health blogs I’ve been reading, and I hope that in time, I can inspire others!
Please note that I am still working with formatting this site. I hope to have it done this weekend.
Today was technically the third day of my half- marathon training. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, head over to the About Me page!) I will eventually put up my training schedule on here, but I am still trying to tweak a few weeks. I am currently in rehearsal for a musical at school and it is the same week as my initiation for my sorority. Also, I have to get my wisdom teeth out in December during the peak of my training so I have to work around that.
I feel that doing this half- marathon is crazy! I haven’t ran a 5K race since high school and I’ve never ran a 10K. However, I am the type of person that will achieve any goal that I put my mind to. I know that the training is going to be difficult at times, but this is something that I really want (no NEED) to do. 🙂
I am hoping to do a 5K race this weekend to get back into the racing mentality. Then do some races during the training process.
As for the half- marathon itself, I do not have a target time right now. When I registered, I had to put in a goal time. For now, I put in 02:50:00. I hope to do much better than that. My best mile time is 7:13, an easy mile for me sits between 8:00-8:30 depending how tired I am during my workout.
Training day 3:
Today I ran three easy miles at around a 8:24 pace. I went to the campus gym with one of the girls in my sorority. Normally I do not like running indoors. I actually HATE treadmills- they are very rough on my knees. However, my allergies have been horrible recently, and it has been affecting my singing voice, so I need to stay indoors to minimize my exposure to the elements. I am hoping to start running outside again soon!!!
As for food:
For breakfast I had three egg whites with salsa and some Greek yogurt with cinnamon and Stevia. (I forgot to take a picture but it sounds easy enough right? And this is essentially my breakfast every morning)
I had an earlyish lunch (Around 11. I have class at noon!)
I really wasn’t too hungry/ don’t have too much in my fridge so I had a spinach salad with rosemary and other spices with a strawberry protein shake (strawberries, vanilla protein powder, yogurt, cinnamon, and a dash of water- yum!)
Finally for dinner I cooked up a tilapia fillet I had in the back of the freezer, some carrots, and a nice salad. Oh, and a yummy spicy pepper humus and lemon sauce!
I had more carrots but I ate a lot of them before the photo was taken. Oops! 😉
That’s it for today. If you have any suggestions for me as to what you would like to see, and some blogging tips, please contact me!!!
