When a hobby becomes a passion…

October 25, 2010

I completely DEVOURED this dinner tonight! I steamed some okra, carrots, broccoli and zucchini and paired it with a Boca Burger. I guess I was more hungry after my run than I thought. 🙂

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

I’ve been thinking over the past few days how much I have changed since I first started running this summer. The reason why I started running was to lose some extra weight. I didn’t particularly like running at first- it was more of a chore. As I increased my mileage and the months continued, I began to fall in love with running. Not only was I seeing the changes physically, but emotionally I have been happier than I’ve ever been in my life. Running relaxes me. It started as a hobby but it has become a passion. I honestly can’t imagine my life without it. Along with the running, I’ve become more interested in health and wellness, and my eyes have been opened up to a new world. I can now say that I am truly passionate about what I do every single day.

I never thought that such a “simple” thing as running could change me, but it has. People think I’m CRAZY when I say, “oh, I have to wake up at 7am on Saturday to run,” but honestly, the Saturday morning runs are the highlight of my week. The anticipation of adding more miles to my long runs keep me going for the week.

I know that I am only on week 3 of my training plan for the half- marathon, but as each day goes by, I honestly feel like I can do this. My goal for completing the 13.1 miles is getting closer and closer and I become more determined each and every day.

I have much more that I want to go into about this topic, but I wanted to get something up tonight, since I promised this post last week. 🙂

I do want to thank everyone who has been so supportive of me and my training. Reading all of your encouraging comments really make me happy. 🙂

Have a wonderful night! 🙂
